Kindness Looks Like
I can be kind like Jesus.
God Loves Me ยท Ephesians 4:32; Colossians 3:12
I can be kind like Jesus.
Has someone ever been really kind to you? What did that feel like? Like something warm spreading through you! Today we hear what the Bible says about kindness. What it looks like, and why it matters so much.
Paul wrote: 'Be kind and tender to one another. Forgive each other, just as God forgave you through Jesus.'
Kindness isn't just a nice feeling. It shows up in what we do.
Kindness looks like: Sharing your toy even when you want to keep it. Saying 'are you okay?' when someone falls down. Using a soft voice when someone is having a hard day. Giving a hug when someone needs one.
Can you give yourself a hug right now? Arms around yourself. That's what kindness feels like to the person who gets it.
Paul also says: put on kindness like you put on clothes.
Think about getting dressed in the morning. You put on your shirt, your pants, your socks.
Paul says: also put on kindness. Put on gentleness. Put on love.
Like they're part of your outfit for the day.
Because they are.
When we are kind, we are being a little bit like Jesus. And there is nothing better than that.
Prayer
Let's pray. Repeat after me:
Dear God,
Help me to be kind today.
Help me to be gentle
like Jesus.
We love you!
Amen.
