I can ask God for anything.
God Loves Me · Jeremiah 33:3; Matthew 7:7–8
I can ask God for anything.
When you want something or need help, who do you ask? Usually someone you love and trust! Today we hear God's own invitation to ask Him. And His promise to answer.
God said this to the prophet Jeremiah: 'Call to me, and I will answer you. I will tell you great and amazing things you don't know yet.'
Call to me. That means talk to me. Ask me. Bring it to me.
And God says: I will answer.
Jesus said the same thing: 'Ask and it will be given to you. Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened for you. Because everyone who asks receives. Everyone who seeks finds. Everyone who knocks: the door opens.'
Ask. Seek. Knock. Three ways of coming to God with what you need.
Can you knock? Knock on something nearby. Knock knock knock!
Jesus says: when you knock on God's door, it opens.
Now, God doesn't always answer the way we expect. He hears us and answers according to His wisdom and love. We can trust Him with the answer, even when we don't understand it.
Because He loves you. And loving parents always listen to their children who ask.
Prayer
Let's pray. And this time, let's make it personal. I'll start, and you tell God what you're asking for.
Dear God,
Thank you that I can ask you.
I am asking you forwhat do you want to ask God today? Tell Him right now!
Thank you that you hear me.
We love you!
Amen.
