Land and Sea
God made the land and the sea.
God Made the World · Genesis 1:9–10
God made the land and the sea.
Have you ever been to the beach? Or maybe a pond or a puddle? Water is everywhere! Today God is going to make places for all that water to live.
On the third day, the whole earth is covered with water. Water, water, everywhere!
Then God speaks.
'Let the water come together in one place!' He says.
The water moves. It gathers and swirls. It comes together into rivers, lakes, and the great big ocean!
Where the water moves away, there is land. Dry, solid, good land.
Can you stomp your feet? That's land! Solid and strong, just like God made it.
God looks at the ocean. So wide, so deep, so beautiful. He looks at the land. So solid and good.
'This is good,' God says.
Two wonderful things, made in one day.
God is making a home. Every good home needs a floor to stand on.
Prayer
Let's talk to God. Repeat after me:
Dear God,
Thank you for the ground under my feet.
Thank you for oceans
and rivers and rain.
We love you!
Amen.
