Plants and Trees

God makes things grow.

God Made the World  ·  Genesis 1:11–13

God makes things grow.

Have you ever seen a tiny little seed? So small you can hold it in your fingers. Today, God is going to fill the whole earth with seeds and plants and giant trees!

The land is dry and empty. But God has more to make.

'Let the earth grow plants!' God says.

Something amazing happens.

Little green shoots push up from the ground. First one. Then two. Then a hundred. Then more than anyone can count!

Soft green grass spreads across the fields. Wildflowers open their faces. Yellow, pink, purple, red!

Then the trees! Tall oak trees reaching up to the sky. Apple trees and orange trees full of fruit. Palm trees swaying by the water.

Can you reach your arms up like a big tall tree? Good! That's how tall they were!

God looks at everything growing. All the green and color and life.

'This is good,' He says.

Every plant that grows, every flower that blooms, every apple on every tree. God started it.

God makes things grow.

Prayer

Let's pray. Repeat after me:
Dear God,
Thank you for plants and trees.
Thank you for flowers
and fruit and green things.
We love you!
Amen.
