The Garden Home
God gives us good things.
God Made the World · Genesis 2:8–9, 15
God gives us good things.
Do you have a home? A place where you eat and sleep and play and feel safe? Today we hear about the very first home God made. It was the most beautiful garden anyone has ever seen.
God loves the people He made. And a good parent always makes a home for their children.
So God plants a garden.
Not just any garden. The most wonderful garden in the world!
He calls it Eden.
He fills it with trees. Tall trees with shade, and fruit hanging down in clusters of purple and gold and red. Sweet fruit, right there. Anytime you're hungry, just reach up and take some.
In the middle of the garden, a river runs clear and sparkling. Cool and clean and fresh.
Flowers bloom everywhere. Butterflies drift from flower to flower. Birds sing in the branches overhead.
Can you smell it? Close your eyes for a second. Imagine the most beautiful place you can think of.
The Garden of Eden was more beautiful than that.
God puts the man and woman right there, in the middle of all of it.
This is their home. God's gift to them.
Because God loves giving good things to the people He made.
Prayer
Let's pray. Repeat after me:
Dear God,
Thank you for good gifts.
Thank you for my home
and food and family.
We love you!
Amen.
