Birds Fly Home
God takes care of me.
God Made the World ยท Matthew 6:26
God takes care of me.
Have you ever watched a bird looking for food? Hop-hop-hop, peck peck peck! Jesus told a story about birds. And what they teach us about how God takes care of us.
One day, Jesus is sitting on a hillside with a crowd of people.
He looks up and sees birds flying overhead. Little sparrows, flitting from branch to branch.
Jesus says something that surprises everyone.
'Look at the birds,' He says.
The people look up. Little birds. Just little birds.
'Those birds don't plant seeds,' Jesus says. 'They don't build barns or worry about having enough food. And yet they always have enough. Why? Because your Father in heaven feeds them.'
The people are quiet, thinking about that.
Then Jesus says the best part:
'And you are worth so much more than birds.'
Can you flap your arms like a bird? Good!
Those little birds never worry. And God feeds them every day.
You are worth so much more to God than any bird.
If God takes care of the birds, He will take care of you.
Prayer
Let's pray. Repeat after me:
Dear God,
Thank you for the birds.
Thank you that you take care of them
and you take care of me.
We love you!
Amen.
