Flowers in the Field

God clothes and cares for us.

God Made the World  ·  Matthew 6:28–30

God clothes and cares for us.

Have you ever seen a field full of wildflowers? Yellow and purple and white and pink! Jesus looked at flowers like that and taught something beautiful about how much God loves us.

Jesus is still sitting on that hillside. Nearby, there are wildflowers growing in the field. Simple field flowers. Daisies and lilies and little purple blossoms.

Jesus points to them.

'Look at the flowers,' He says.

Everyone looks.

'Those flowers don't work hard to make themselves beautiful,' Jesus says. 'They don't sew or spin or worry about how they look. And yet they are more beautiful than the finest clothes a king has ever worn!'

The people look at the flowers with new eyes. He's right. The petals are perfect. Every color is just right. The soft, velvety edges. God did that!

Can you use your hands to make a flower shape? Open your fingers like petals!

Then Jesus says: 'God dressed these flowers so beautifully. And you are so much more important to God than a flower.'

God takes care of flowers. He will take care of you too.

Prayer

Let's pray. Repeat after me:
Dear God,
You made the flowers so beautiful.
Thank you that you care for me
even more than flowers.
We love you!
Amen.
