The Wind

God Made the World  ·  John 3:8; Psalm 104:3

God's Spirit is always with me.

Can you see the wind? You can't. But you can feel it! And you can see what it does. The leaves shake, your hair blows, kites go up. Jesus used the wind to teach something beautiful about God's Spirit.

One night, a man comes to talk to Jesus. His name is Nicodemus, and he has big questions.

Jesus listens carefully.

Then Jesus teaches him something he has never thought about before.

Jesus says: the wind blows where it wishes. You can hear it. You can see what it does to the trees. But you cannot see where it comes from or where it goes.

'That is what God's Spirit is like,' Jesus tells him.

The Spirit of God is real. He does real things. We can see His work in the world, in people who love and forgive and care for each other.

But He is not something we can control or fully explain. He is God's Spirit, and He moves as God chooses.

Can you blow a big puff of air like wind? You can feel the air but you can't see it!

God's Spirit is real. And He is God's gift to those who belong to Him.

Prayer

Let's pray. Repeat after me:
Dear God,
Thank you for your Spirit.
Thank you that you are with me
even when I can't see you.
We love you!
Amen.
