Trees Clap Their Hands
All of creation praises God.
God Made the World · Isaiah 55:12; Psalm 96:11–12
All of creation praises God.
How do you show someone that you love them? Maybe a hug? A smile? Singing them a song? Did you know the Bible says that trees and mountains and rivers do something a little bit like that for God? Today we hear about creation's song.
The prophet Isaiah wrote something that makes you stop and smile.
He said: 'You will go out with joy and be led out in peace. The mountains and hills will burst into song! And the trees of the field will clap their hands!'
Trees clapping!
Can you clap your hands? Clap, clap, clap! Now imagine a whole forest doing that. All the branches waving, the leaves rustling, the whole tree shaking with joy!
Psalm 96 says: let the sea roar and everything in it! Let the fields jump for joy!
Think about a field of tall grass waving in the wind. God sees that waving. He knows the grass is saying thank you.
Think about the sound of the ocean, the rumbling of a waterfall, the whisper of leaves. God hears that as praise.
The whole created world, all the things God made, they show God glory just by being what they are.
We can join them! When we notice a beautiful sunset and say 'thank you, God,' we are joining the song that all of creation is already singing.
Prayer
Let's pray. Repeat after me:
Dear God,
All your world sings to you.
Help me to praise you
with all that I am.
We love you!
Amen.
