Stars I Cannot Count

God knows every single star.

God Made the World  ·  Psalm 147:4; Genesis 15:5

God knows every single star.

Have you ever tried to count the stars? One, two, three — and then there are just too many! Today we hear something amazing: God knows every single star. And He has a name for every one.

One night, long ago, God takes a man named Abraham outside. God wants to show him something.

'Look up,' God says.

Abraham looks up at the night sky. He sees stars. Hundreds. Thousands. More than he could ever count.

'Can you count all of them?' God asks.

Abraham tries. One, two, three, four. There are just too many!

'I know every one of them,' God tells Abraham. 'I made every one. And I have a name for every single star you see.'

Think about that. The sky has more stars than there are grains of sand on a beach. And God knows each one by name.

The Psalms also say: God knows the number of the stars and calls each one by name.

Can you look up right now? Imagine the biggest, most star-filled sky you can picture.

God knows every one.

And here is the most wonderful part: the same God who knows every star knows YOU. He knows your name too. And He loves you even more than all those stars put together.

Prayer

Let's pray. Repeat after me:
Dear God,
You know every star.
Thank you that you know me
and love me too.
We love you!
Amen.
