The Mountains
God is bigger than the biggest things.
God Made the World · Psalm 95:4; Psalm 121:1–2
God is bigger than the biggest things.
What's the biggest thing you can think of? Maybe a building? A mountain? God made things so big and so tall that we have to tip our heads all the way back to see the top. Today we learn about the mountains. And about how big God really is.
Have you ever seen a picture of a mountain?
Mountains are enormous. So tall that their tops are covered in snow, even in summer. So heavy that the ground holds their weight for thousands of years.
The biggest mountains reach so high you can see them from hundreds of miles away.
The Bible says God holds the mountains in His hands. He made their peaks. He set them in place, like we might stack a pile of blocks.
Can you reach your hands up as high as they'll go? God made mountains even higher than that!
A long time ago, a man looked at the mountains and wrote this: 'I look to the mountains. Where does my help come from? My help comes from God, who made heaven and earth.' That's Psalm 121.
When something feels too big to handle, when you feel scared or small, remember the mountains.
And remember who made them.
The God who made the tallest mountain is bigger than anything that scares you.
Prayer
Let's pray. Repeat after me:
Dear God,
You are so big.
Thank you that you are bigger
than anything I'm afraid of.
We love you!
Amen.
